Over ten years ago, Compass Rose was started with two simple goals in mind:
Since then, every decision about our business has been made keeping these objectives in mind. Basing our business on this philosophy, we’ve grown to become a well-respected residential and multi-housing construction and remodeling company. We specialize in building quality custom residences and communities and renovating existing spaces to meet the specific needs of the customer.
Compass Rose enjoys a reputation for working closely with homeowners. We strive to create high quality living environments that serve as ideal backdrops for our clients’ lifestyle while ensuring the process is a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

Matt Morrell, President
Compass Rose
Compass Rose is based on a family history of home building. Matt started in the construction business in 1992, but joined forces with his Dad in 1997 to build single-family and multi-family homes and communities. They focused on their roots, building in the Pacific Northwest, initially in Portland and then expanding to Hood River and beyond.
Now Matt owns and runs the operations side of the company. He is responsible for leading the Compass Rose team, fostering new business relationships and keeping his finger on the pulse of the project from the permit phase to final acceptance. Most importantly, he ensures our clients are well cared for.

Ethan Beck , Project Manager
Ethan started in the construction business in 1997. After meeting Matt on a ski trip in Vail, Colorado in 2004, Ethan has been an essential addition to the Compass Rose team. Ethan has extensive experience in the development, management and building of residential and multi-family projects. He was responsible for project managing large luxury home construction in Nantucket before moving out west.
Now at Compass Rose, he is responsible for running large crews for our construction projects, overseeing the big picture elements of the project while ensuring the details are completed and serving as a conduit of information between the homeowners, construction management team and construction team.

Ben Webster, Project Manager
Hired in 2005 for Compass Rose, Ben works as a Project Manager in Hood River, Oregon. Ben serves as a conduit between the homeowners and construction crew to facilitate an effective flow of communication. His role is essential to ensuring a smoothly running process and that the client’s vision is reflected in the final construction of their home.
He is on the job site daily and closely manages the entire construction process. His responsibilities include everything from the project permitting to final occupancy. He is highly organized and professional and like everyone at Compass Rose. Truly committed to making sure the client is more than satisfied.
